Replacement of Air Conditioning Units up to 12 kW in Non-Residential Spaces
The goal is to standardize the calculation of electricity savings that are triggered by replacing inefficient room air conditioning units up to 12 kW in non-residential rooms with energy-efficient units.
Examples and Scenarios
What the measure delivers
5.0 Rp./kWh
Scenario A
Replacement of 10 room air conditioning units with 5 kW cooling capacity each
45'000kWh
eligible kWh, accumulated over the measure's lifetime
Only measures that meet the requirements of the Energy Ordinance (SR 730.01; EnV) can be credited. The additional requirements for the technical characteristics and for the implementation of the measure are set out in Table 1.
Old system
New system
Technology
Mains-operated split or multi-split air conditioners with a rated cooling capacity Prated of up to 12 kW that fall within the scope of Annex 1.13 of the Energy Efficiency Ordinance (SR 730.02; EnEV) are covered by this measure.
Energy efficiency
-
Energy efficiency class (cooling) of at least A+++
Installation location
The cooled area of the building/rooms without residential use must be 150 m² or smaller and must be determined in accordance with SIA 380:2015. The building's altitude must not exceed 800 metres above sea level.
Sizing
The total installed rated cooling capacity of the new system must be less than or equal to the total installed rated cooling capacity of the old system.
Implementation
The replacement and commissioning of the new system must be carried out by a qualified specialist or company.
Disposal
The consumption-relevant components of the old devices may not continue to be operated within Switzerland. Proper disposal or export must be demonstrable on request.
Proof of compliance
Compliance with the requirements must be demonstrated by the following documents. The documents listed in Table 2 are an integral part of the proof of measure implementation.
1.Explanation (PDF format, max. 2 A4 pages) of how it is ensured that the replaced devices were properly disposed of (e.g. by means of declarations, disposal items on contractor invoices, etc.).
2.Invoice documents (PDF, PNG or JPEG format)

Calculation Formulas
Annual Electricity Savings
ΔE = PK × hVL × (1/EERvor - 1/EERnach)
The annual electricity savings result from the cooling capacity, full load hours and the difference in efficiency before and after replacement.
Cumulative Electricity Savings
ΔEeco = ΔE × Ns
The cumulative electricity savings result from the annual savings multiplied by the standard effective duration.

Standardised measures are one of two measure types in the EFFEL programme (efficiency improvements by electricity suppliers, Art. 46b EnG). They follow a predefined SFOE catalogue with fixed savings values.
