Non-standardised measures
For innovative or project-specific efficiency initiatives not listed in the standard catalogue. We guide you through the approval process with SFOE and manage comprehensive documentation.
Tailored solutions
When your efficiency initiative differs from the standard catalogue, we support you with individual application and approval procedures.
Calculation methodology & proof
We develop a transparent impact calculation for you and compile all required documentation.
Guidance through the process
From application preparation through communication with the SFOE office to final approval – we coordinate every step.
What are non-standardised measures?
Non-standardised measures are energy efficiency measures not listed in the official standard measure catalogue. They require individual review and approval by the SFOE office.
Typical examples
- Innovative or novel technologies
- Industry-specific process optimisation
- Complex system adjustments with multiple components
- Measures with project-specific boundary conditions
The approval procedure
Non-standardised measure approval requires a structured application process:
Application preparation
We create a detailed measure description and develop the calculation methodology for electricity savings.
Submission to SFOE
The complete application is submitted through us to the SFOE office – including all technical proofs and assumptions.
Review & approval
The SFOE office reviews the application within approximately 90 days and issues an ad-hoc savings protocol if approved.
Implementation & reporting
Following implementation, we use the approved protocol to credit your measure against your target obligation.
Requirements for non-standardised measures
For a measure to be approved, it must meet the following criteria:
Best available technology alignment
The measure must demonstrate higher energy efficiency than industry-standard solutions.
Measurable savings
Electricity savings must be demonstrable through physical measurement or scientifically substantiated calculations.
Implementation in Switzerland
The measure must be carried out at end consumers within Switzerland.
Permanence
The measure must not be time-limited or easily reversible.
Non-eligible measures
- Measures required by law (federal, MuKEn 2014)
- Measures receiving subsidies from federal, cantonal, or municipal authorities
- Measures at energy-intensive industrial consumers (RNZ-eligible)
- Measures under target agreements
- Pure behavioural measures without technical component
Our services
We manage the entire process from initial concept through final credit:
Preliminary review & feasibility
We assess whether your measure is eligible for funding and develop an initial estimate of potential savings.
Application preparation
We create comprehensive application documentation including measure description, calculation methodology, and all required proofs.
Communication with SFOE
We coordinate all communication with the SFOE office, answer queries, and implement any required adjustments.
Implementation support
Following approval, we assist with correct implementation and documentation of your measure.
Reporting to SFOE
We prepare the approved savings protocol and submit your implemented measure on your behalf.
