Adjustment of Operating Temperature

Refrigeration Technology

Measure Goal

The goal is to standardize the calculation of electricity savings that are triggered by adjusting the usage temperature to optimize the evaporation temperature.

Examples and Scenarios

5.0 Rp./kWh
0.1 Rp./kWh10.0 Rp./kWh
Scenario A
Savings

Raising the usage temperature in a cold room by 2 K (50 kW)

20'000
kWh

eligible kWh, accumulated over the measure's lifetime

Funding contribution
CHF 1’000

Inputs

Elektrische Leistung: 50 kW, Betriebsstunden: 5'000 h/a, Temperaturerhöhung: 2 K

Requirements

Only measures that meet the requirements of the Energy Ordinance (SR 730.01; EnV) can be credited. The additional requirements for the technical characteristics and for the implementation of the measure are set out in Table 1.

TechnologyMains-operated refrigeration systems within the scope of Annexes 1.14 or 2.11 EnEV (SR 730.02; EnEV) with a rated cooling capacity of up to: - 40 kW in the application area of above-zero cooling - 30 kW in the application area of below-zero cooling - 80 kW in the application area of comfort air-conditioning with direct evaporator - 200 kW in the application areas of comfort air-conditioning with refrigerant carrier, IT servers and process cooling
ImplementationThe measure must be carried out by a qualified specialist / company.

Proof of compliance

Compliance with the requirements must be demonstrated by the following documents. The documents listed in Table 2 are an integral part of the proof of measure implementation.

Calculation Formulas

Annual Electricity Savings

ΔE = Pel × hB × 0.04 × ΔTV

The annual electricity savings result from the electrical power consumption, operating hours and temperature difference (approx. 4% savings per K).

Cumulative Electricity Savings

ΔEeco = ΔE × Ns

The cumulative electricity savings result from the annual savings multiplied by the standard effective duration.

Part of the EFFEL programme

Standardised measures are one of two measure types in the EFFEL programme (efficiency improvements by electricity suppliers, Art. 46b EnG). They follow a predefined SFOE catalogue with fixed savings values.
