Replacement of Indoor Lighting Systems

Lighting

Measure Goal

The goal is to standardize the calculation of electricity savings that are triggered by the optimization, replacement or retrofitting of lighting systems or parts thereof (replacement of lamps or luminaires, luminaire conversion and/or installation of additional detection and control components) indoors, taking into account all consumption-relevant parameters.

Examples and Scenarios

5.0 Rp./kWh
0.1 Rp./kWh10.0 Rp./kWh
Scenario A
Savings

Replacement of lighting in an industrial building (10,785 m²)

1'160'000
kWh

eligible kWh, accumulated over the measure's lifetime

Funding contribution
CHF 58’000

Inputs

Traffic area, Office, Production, Warehouse, Utility room

Scenario B
Savings

Replacement of floor lamps in an open-plan office (130 workstations)

227'300
kWh

eligible kWh, accumulated over the measure's lifetime

Funding contribution
CHF 11’365

Inputs

Open-plan office

Requirements

Only measures that meet the requirements of the Energy Ordinance (SR 730.01; EnV) can be credited. The additional requirements for the technical characteristics and for the implementation of the measure are set out in Table 1.

Old systemNew system
Quality verification-Minergie limit value according to SIA 387/4:2023 Illuminance no more than 20% above the minimum values according to SN EN 12464-1
ImplementationPlanning, installation and commissioning of the new system must be carried out by a qualified specialist / company and metrologically verified after completion.
DisposalThe consumption-relevant components of the old devices may not continue to be operated within Switzerland. Proper disposal or export must be demonstrable on request.

Proof of compliance

Compliance with the requirements must be demonstrated by the following documents. The documents listed in Table 2 are an integral part of the proof of measure implementation.

  • 1.Invoice documents (PDF, PNG or JPEG format)
  • 2.Explanation (PDF format, max. 2 A4 pages) of how it is ensured that the replaced devices were properly disposed of (e.g. by means of declarations, disposal items on contractor invoices, etc.).
  • 3.A metrological report (PDF format) documenting the correct illuminance levels after commissioning
  • 4.An energy verification according to SIA 387/4:2023 (PDF format). Permitted tools for this are:

Permitted tools

  • SFOE Excel tool (SIA 387/4) — A free Excel tool for calculating the energy demand according to SIA standard 387/4.
  • ReluxEnergy CH — A paid calculation and verification tool for lighting installations according to SIA standard 387/4.
  • LightTool.ch — A free online tool for calculating the energy demand according to SIA standard 387/4

Calculation Formulas

Annual Electricity Savings

ΔE = Ebefore - Eafter

The annual electricity savings result from the difference between electricity consumption before and after the measure.

Cumulative Electricity Savings

ΔEeco = ΔE × Ns × f

The cumulative electricity savings result from the annual savings multiplied by the standard effective duration and the correction factor.

Lighting Electricity Consumption

E = Σ(Ai × Pi × hi × 365) / 1000

The electricity consumption of the lighting is calculated from the sum of area, installed power and operating hours for each room use.

Part of the EFFEL programme

Standardised measures are one of two measure types in the EFFEL programme (efficiency improvements by electricity suppliers, Art. 46b EnG). They follow a predefined SFOE catalogue with fixed savings values.
