Replacement of Commercial Plug-in Refrigeration and Freezer Units
Commercial Equipment
Measure Goal
The goal of this document is to estimate the electricity savings triggered by the replacement of commercial, plug-in refrigeration and freezing appliances on a flat-rate basis.
Examples and Scenarios
Beverage manufacturer replaces 24 beverage coolers
Inputs
9x Class A + 15x Class B
Requirements
Only measures that meet the requirements of the Energy Ordinance (SR 730.01; EnV) can be credited. The additional requirements for the technical characteristics and for the implementation of the measure are set out in Table 1.
| Device type | This measure only covers the following plug-in device types that fall within the scope of the Energy Efficiency Ordinance (SR 730.02; EnEV), as well as laboratory and medical devices. |
|---|---|
| Energy efficiency | The new devices must have at least the following energy efficiency class / must not exceed the following energy consumption emax: |
| Beverage coolers | |
| Ice-cream chest freezers (ice-cream freezers) | |
| Undercounter refrigerated cabinets | |
| Vertical refrigerated cabinets ≤ 800 litres* | |
| Vertical refrigerated cabinets > 800 litres | |
| Undercounter freezer cabinets | |
| Vertical freezer cabinets ≤ 800 litres | |
| Vertical freezer cabinets > 800 litres | |
| Fridge-freezer combinations** with a usable volume V | |
| Blast chillers/freezers*** with a capacity C < 35 kg in the chilling cycle | |
| Blast chillers/freezers with a capacity C ≥ 35 kg in the chilling cycle | |
| Blast chillers/freezers*** with a capacity C in the freezing cycle | |
| Laboratory/medical refrigerators**** with a usable volume V | |
| Laboratory/medical freezers**** with a usable volume V | |
| Laboratory/medical ultra-low-temperature freezers**** ≤ −45°C with a usable volume V |
Proof of compliance
Compliance with the requirements must be demonstrated by the following documents. The documents listed in Table 2 are an integral part of the proof of measure implementation.

Calculation Formulas
Creditable Electricity Savings
The creditable electricity savings result from the difference between the current and new annual electricity consumption, multiplied by the reduction factor and the standard effective duration.
Annual Electricity Consumption (with EEI)
The annual electricity consumption is calculated from the product of the energy efficiency index and the standard annual energy consumption.
Annual Electricity Consumption (alternative)
Alternatively, the annual electricity consumption is calculated from the product of the specific electricity consumption and the usage intensity.
