Replacement of Drive Systems up to 75 kW
Motors and Drives
Measure Goal
The goal of this document is to estimate the electricity savings triggered by the replacement of electric motors up to 75 kW for the following standard cases: (i) Replacement of a constant speed motor with another constant speed motor, (ii) Replacement of a motor with frequency converter with another motor with frequency converter. Retrofitting with a frequency converter or special measures for torque or power control are not included in this documentation.

Calculation Formulas
Creditable Electricity Savings
The cumulative electricity savings result from the difference between electricity consumption before and after the measure, multiplied by the reduction factor (0.75) and the standard effective duration.
Annual Electricity Consumption(ohne Verbrauchsprofil)
Electricity consumption is calculated based on the motor's rated power, annual operating hours, average motor load and efficiency. A reduction factor accounts for efficiency losses at lower partial loads.
Annual Electricity Consumption(mit Verbrauchsprofil)
With a known consumption profile, the average power consumption during operation is multiplied by the annual operating hours.
Examples and Scenarios
Replacement of motors, 5.5 kW power (built 2002), of two drive systems with flat belt without speed control, operating twelve hours daily all year round
Inputs
Betriebsdauer: 4'830 h/a
