Replacement of Cooling Products up to 250 kW
Refrigeration Technology
Measure Goal
The goal is to standardize the calculation of electricity savings that are triggered by replacing inefficient cooling products up to 250 kW with energy-efficient units.
Examples and Scenarios
Replacement of a refrigeration system with 150 kW cooling capacity
Inputs
Kälteleistung: 150 kW, SEER vorher: 2.8, SEER nachher: 4.2, Volllaststunden: 3'000 h/a
Requirements
Only measures that meet the requirements of the Energy Ordinance (SR 730.01; EnV) can be credited. The additional requirements for the technical characteristics and for the implementation of the measure are set out in Table 1.
| Old system | New system | |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Mains-operated cooling products within the scope of Annexes 1.14 or 2.11 EnEV (SR 730.02; EnEV) with a rated cooling capacity of up to 250 kW. All types of cascade systems are excluded. | |
| Energy efficiency | Medium on the condensation side | Air |
| Room air-conditioning (SEER) | ≥ 4.4 | |
| Process HT (SEPR) ¹ | ≥ 6.0 | |
| Process MT (SEPR) ² | ≥ 3.5 | |
| Process LT (SEPR) ² | ≥ 2.0 | |
| Sizing | The total installed rated cooling capacity of the new system must be less than or equal to the total installed rated cooling capacity of the old system. In addition, it must be demonstrated that a reduction in cooling capacity has been examined and implemented as far as possible. | |
| Implementation | The replacement and commissioning of the new system must be carried out by a qualified specialist or company. | |
Proof of compliance
Compliance with the requirements must be demonstrated by the following documents. The documents listed in Table 2 are an integral part of the proof of measure implementation.
- 1.The information requirements (PDF format) of the new devices according to the Energy Efficiency Ordinance (Annex 1.14 or Annex 2.11 EnEV) demonstrating the efficiency requirements according to Table 1.
- 2.Invoice documents (PDF, PNG or JPEG format)

Calculation Formulas
Annual Electricity Savings
The annual electricity savings result from the cooling capacity, full load hours and the difference in seasonal efficiency before and after replacement.
Cumulative Electricity Savings
The cumulative electricity savings result from the annual savings multiplied by the standard effective duration.
