Replacement of Household Appliances
Household Appliances
Measure Goal
The goal is to estimate the electricity savings triggered by replacing an old household appliance with a new, energy-efficient model. The measure covers various household appliances such as clothes dryers, washer-dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, fridge-freezers, freezers, chest freezers, wine coolers, extractor hoods and hobs.
Examples and Scenarios
A municipality promoted the replacement of 214 old dishwashers with energy-efficient models as part of an electricity savings program for residents
Inputs
37x Geschirrspüler Klasse A + 177x Geschirrspüler Klasse B
Requirements
Only measures that meet the requirements of the Energy Ordinance (SR 730.01; EnV) can be credited. The additional requirements for the technical characteristics and for the implementation of the measure are set out in Table 1.
| Energy efficiency | The new devices must have at least the following energy efficiency class / must not exceed the following energy consumption: |
|---|---|
| Tumble dryers | |
| Multi-family-house tumble dryers > 4 kg/h | |
| Washer-dryers* | |
| Dishwashers | |
| Refrigerators and fridge-freezers | |
| Chest freezers | |
| Upright freezers | |
| Wine coolers | |
| Range hoods | |
| Cooktops |
Proof of compliance
Compliance with the requirements must be demonstrated by the following documents. The documents listed in Table 2 are an integral part of the proof of measure implementation.

Creditable Electricity Savings
The creditable electricity savings result from the difference between the old and new annual electricity consumption, multiplied by the reduction factor (0.75) and the standard effective duration. The reduction factor accounts for the natural renewal and optimization rate.
