Replacement of Commercial Ice Makers
Commercial Equipment
Measure Goal
The goal of this document is to estimate the electricity savings triggered by the replacement of commercial ice makers on a flat-rate basis.
Requirements
Only measures that meet the requirements of the Energy Ordinance (SR 730.01; EnV) can be credited. The additional requirements for the technical characteristics and for the implementation of the measure are set out in Table 1.
| Energy efficiency | The new ice makers must not exceed the following electricity consumption values, whereby the ice production P of the new device according to EN ISO 6369:2023 in kg/24h (whole number) is to be used for the calculation. |
|---|---|
| With ice storage bin and <80 kg/24h | |
| With ice storage bin and 80-199 kg/24h | |
| Without ice storage bin and <200 kg/24h |
Proof of compliance
Compliance with the requirements must be demonstrated by the following documents. The documents listed in Table 2 are an integral part of the proof of measure implementation.

Calculation Formulas
Creditable Electricity Savings
The creditable electricity savings result from the difference between the current and new annual electricity consumption, multiplied by the reduction factor (0.75) and the standard effective duration (10 years).
Annual Electricity Consumption
The annual electricity consumption is calculated from the product of the specific electricity consumption, the ice production and the usage factor.
